SALIDROSIDE IN NEUROPROTECTION

Abstract:

Chronic Progressive nervous system disorders like Parkinsonrsquo;s , Multiple sclerosis , Alzheimerrsquo;s , Huntingtonrsquo;s , Peripheral neuropathies , etc are incurable and are associated with increasing disabilities such as cognitive impairment and reduced life expectancy . At present there are no uniformly successful treatment strategies , and Although these diseases canrsquo;t be cured , medication may markedly improve symptoms . Occasionally surgery may be performed to regulate certain regions of the brain and improve symptoms .

The limited survival advantage is partially influenced by the lack of availability of neurological services. Resources are inadequate for patients with neurological disorders in most parts of the world , there is inequalities in the access to neurological care across different populations , especially in those living in low income countries and in the developing regions of the world.

Introduction:

Progressive nervous system disorders are divided into the following diseases

Parkinsonrsquo;s disease , Multiple sclerosis , Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis , Alzheimerrsquo;s disease , Huntingtonrsquo;s disease and Peripheral neuropathies

In the case of Parkinsonrsquo;s disease only , According to a recent Survey done by WHO and the World Federation of Neurology involving 109 countries and covering over 90% of the worldrsquo;s population , age adjusted rate Parkinsonrsquo;s disease is an estimated 9.7 to 13.8 per 100 000 population.
